Breathe Exhibition at ME GOODY Space: When Art Revives Space

11/13/2025

Written by Evgeniia Shakirova, ME GOODY Sales and Outreach  Intern

Recently, ME GOODY Space had the opportunity to host the Breathe Exhibition – a collaborative showcase dedicated to sustainability, environmental awareness, and human connection with nature. The exhibition invited visitors to “explore and connect with the stories and experiences of nature through a variety of experimental art forms,” bringing together the works of eight independent artists. Each artist approached the theme differently: some focused on texture and material, others on storytelling or abstraction. Together, their works opened up a conversation about how we relate to the natural world.

The transformation of the space was especially meaningful to witness. Our third and fourth floors, often open and minimal, became vivid and full of character once the exhibition was installed. We captured a few “before and after” moments: the empty corners, the clean white walls, and the quiet stillness of the room before the art arrived. Once the artworks were installed, those same corners became warm, expressive, and full of narrative. The pieces did not just decorate the space; they changed the feeling of being inside it. What was once minimal became meaningful.
The exhibition also reshaped the way we used our first floor. Typically a co-working area, it transformed into a small performance stage, hosting an experimental art and music session led by a Thai group of creatives. As someone who plays several musical instruments and spent years in a music-centered community, I was personally curious to see how sound, art, and the room itself would interact. The performance felt spontaneous yet intentional – a moment where space, people, and artistic expression aligned.
Picture
During the event, we welcomed people from different creative communities. Many shared that the space felt calming, warm, and cozy. Some stayed for long conversations, others walked around slowly, pausing to look and return to certain works again. It was a reminder that art is not only something to be seen, but something to experience.

We look forward to hosting more exhibitions, installations, and creative gatherings in ME GOODY Space. Our space is flexible, personal, and always ready to be reimagined. If you’re an artist or creator seeking a place where your work can speak and be felt – we would be happy to welcome you. Let’s create something together.

ME GOODY Space: A Creative Event Space in Bangkok for Workshops, Exhibitions & Gatherings

10/31/2025

Written by Evgeniia Shakirova, ME GOODY Intern & Event Assistant Organizer

Just five minutes away from ICON SIAM, ME GOODY Space is more than a venue – it’s a warm, creative community space designed to support a wide range of events, from workshops and discussions to exhibitions and private gatherings. Whether you're an independent curator, a small creative brand, or a team looking for a distinct place to host your next event, ME GOODY Space offers three floors that each carry their own atmosphere. Organizers can choose the floor that best fits their needs, or combine multiple floors for multi-part programs.

The first floor is often used for workshops, community gatherings and mid-size group sessions. It has a warm, open layout that works well for people to gather around a shared activity, whether that means a brand demonstration, community learning session, or small business event. The space is easy to rearrange depending on group size and activity style, which gives organizers flexibility rather than confining them to a fixed setup.
Picture
Going up, the second floor offers a more private atmosphere, making it suitable for smaller gatherings, film sessions, group conversations, or creative activities that require a quieter setting. Black-out curtains allow the space to shift into an enclosed and more intimate environment when needed. A washroom located on the same floor adds convenience for longer or multi-part events.
Picture
The third floor is the largest of all and is designed to support exhibitions and rehearsals. With full-size mirrors and gallery-style track lighting, it adapts well to both movement-based practices and display-focused events. The presence of an industrial elevator makes it practical for transporting artworks, installation materials, or equipment. The floor is often chosen by artists, curators, and creative teams who need a bright, open space that can function as either a rehearsal studio or a gallery hall.
Picture
Throughout the space, the approach is practical and flexible. Rather than imposing a single style of use, ME GOODY Space invites organizers to shape the environment according to their own vision. This makes the space a fitting choice for independent artists, small creative brands, community groups, and event facilitators who prefer a venue with personality – one that doesn’t feel overly formal or corporate.
Picture
The location itself is another advantage as well. Being close to ICON SIAM makes the space easy to reach for attendees coming from different parts of the city, including those arriving by BTS, bus or even ferry. This accessibility supports collaborations and public-facing events, where convenience plays an important role in attendance.
Picture
Common types of events hosted at ME GOODY Space include:
  • Workshops and skill-sharing sessions
  • Small group discussions or creative meet-ups
  • Film sessions and festivals
  • Rehearsals for performance or movement
  • Art exhibitions and installation-based events
  • Private community gatherings

Lighting the Way: ME GOODY’s Journey to LUMINA Community Film Festival 2025

6/6/2025

At ME GOODY, we believe that creativity is a force for connection — and community is where it grows best.

Rooted in Bangkok, our creative space has always aimed to be more than a venue. It’s a platform where curiosity leads, the arts are celebrated, and individuals are empowered to explore, express, and evolve. Whether you’re a young dreamer or a seasoned artist, ME GOODY is a place where your journey can begin — or expand.

Where It All Began: Movie Club and Meaningful Conversations
LUMINA didn’t begin as a festival. It began with a simple idea: gathering people together to watch good films. Our weekly Movie Club became the heartbeat of our early community, screening art films, indie gems, and commercial hits. But more importantly, it became a space where people from all walks of life came together to connect. Some came for the stories, others came to relax, but everyone stayed for the feeling.

From the very beginning, ME GOODY held a vision of turning these weekly gatherings into something more meaningful, something that could grow beyond just watching films. As our Movie Club steadily became a space for connection and creative exchange, we began exploring ways it could evolve. A film festival was just one of the many ideas we imagined, a natural extension of our passion to support emerging voices and build a creative community around storytelling.

Then came the beautiful synchronicities, amongst those who joined our Movie Club were Jim Liu, an actor and university professor, Joey Wang, a screenwriter and producer, and filmmaker Victor Zheng. Through heartfelt conversations rooted in shared passion, we talked about film, creativity, and the importance of supporting emerging creators. Their encouragement and energy became the spark that helped us move from vision to action — turning the idea of LUMINA into a reality.

From Vision to Festival: Shining a Light on New Voices
As we stepped into a new year, ME GOODY’s founder Cin Ye and Creative Director Sony Tsai revisited our vision: How can we shine a light on emerging talents, especially in Thailand? We knew we wanted to expand Movie Club into something more meaningful — something that would give a platform to creators and unseen storytellers.

With this goal in mind, Sony took the lead in developing the full concept and proposal for what would soon become LUMINA Community Film Festival — a celebration of stories, light, and creative voices. The name LUMINA, conceptualized by Sony, pays homage to the essence of light — the very element that makes film possible. It also reflects our galactic-inspired spirit at ME GOODY, where everything begins with curiosity and cosmic wonder.

To bring this vision to life, we invited Victor Zheng to join the project, who then brought along Justus Demarest. Together, we formed the LUMINA 2025 Core Team, working closely to execute ME GOODY’s original concept with care and creativity.
  • ME GOODY – Executive Producer & Investor
  • Cin Ye – Producer
  • Sony Tsai – Co-Producer & Festival Director
  • Victor Zheng – Co-Producer & Community Engagement
  • Justus Demarest – Co-Producer & Programmer Curator

A Community Effort: Gratitude from the Heart

Bringing LUMINA to life required not only vision, but an entire community of support.

To our esteemed international judges — your time, dedication and thoughtful reviews helped us recognize true storytelling brilliance. To our valued partners — VERSO International School, PENCOM, Tech Tales Youth, Cinemata, and Bangkok Film School — your belief in our mission helped transform it into reality.

To our amazing ME GOODY Team, thank you for your hard work behind the scenes. And to our event volunteers and photographers — Aly Khan Nathu, Gerardo Simonetto, Htein Lin Naung, and Kaung Kin Lindar — your time, talent, and generosity made this festival not only possible, but beautiful. We are endlessly thankful.

Global Response, Local Heart: Celebrating All Submissions
We didn’t know what to expect when we launched LUMINA — it began as a quiet experiment, a heartfelt attempt to see if anyone out there shared our vision. But what we received truly surprised us. The amount of interest and support for our very first edition was far beyond what we imagined — and deeply humbling.

We were honored to receive submissions from both Thailand and around the world. To every filmmaker who trusted us with your work: thank you. Your belief in this infant community film festival gave us the courage to keep going.

🌏 Submission Highlights:
  • Films submitted from 17 countries
  • Southeast Asia submissions: 51.6%
  • Thai local filmmakers: the largest group
  • United States: 17.7%
  • Europe: 16.1%
  • Rest of Asia: 12.9%
  • Australia: 1.6%
  • Average filmmaker age: 31
  • Average Thai submitter age: 24

The depth and diversity of talent — especially from young local creators — left us inspired and moved. It reaffirmed our belief that Thailand is full of powerful, unseen voices just waiting for the light. We’re proud to be part of a journey that helps bring those stories forward.

LUMINA Community Film Festival 2025 Press Gathering Recap

Hosted by ME GOODY at ME GOODY Space | Festival Dates: May 15–17, 13:00–21:00

This week, ME GOODY proudly welcomed media, creatives, and community members to an
intimate press gathering ahead of the highly anticipated LUMINA Community Film Festival,
happening next month from May 15–17 at the heart of Bangkok’s creative district.

As the sole investor and organizer of this bold new initiative, ME GOODY introduced the vision behind LUMINA — a community-centric film festival designed to spotlight emerging
storytellers, inspire cultural dialogue, and create a space for authentic expression. More than just a film event, LUMINA reflects ME GOODY’s commitment to pushing forward change through the arts, while fostering a culture of collaboration, diversity, and growth.

At its core, ME GOODY is a creative events company with a heart. With each project, we aim

together
through the transformative power of creativity. Whether through film, workshops, or immersive gatherings, ME GOODY continues to cultivate experiences rooted in artistic
exploration and mindful community-building.

Meet the Dream Team Behind LUMINA 2025
At the heart of this year’s LUMINA Community Film Festival are the people who’ve poured
their passion into shaping every moment. Spearheading the festival is Cin Ye, festival producer and a driving force within the ME GOODY team, alongside Sony Tsai, the festival director. Together, they embody the festival’s creative spirit and dedication to building platforms for bold, new voices.

Flying in from the U.S. to lend their talents to this collaborative vision are Victor Sun Zheng,
serving as our vibrant community manager, and Justus Demarest, who curated this year’s film program with precision, heart, and an eye for stories that move us. These four community leaders, from across continents and cultures, are working in harmony to bring LUMINA to life — not just as a film festival, but as a living, breathing space for connection. But the brilliance doesn’t stop there. LUMINA is proud to present a diverse and inspiring jury
panel of 10 exceptional individuals
, whose experiences span creative industries, cultural fields, and generations. This year’s panel includes:
  • Jim Liu
  • Pichanun Siwadnidhikl
  • Anya Swityanon
  • Pallavi Rawal
  • Doze Natchanan
  • Martijn de Haan
  • Gideon Doron
  • Ron Smoorenburg
  • Danainan Kirdakorn Na Ayudhya
  • Joey Wang

From filmmakers and academics to artists and advocates, these panelists reflect the heart of what LUMINA stands for: a celebration of stories told through diverse lenses. With their insights, the festival promises a thoughtful, inclusive, and elevated selection process that honors both craft and community impact.

The Story Behind LUMINA: Light, Connection, and Co-Existence
During the press gathering, the team behind LUMINA shared the heartfelt journey of how the festival came to life. At its core, LUMINA is more than an event — it's a manifesto of light, a community call to artists and dreamers who believe in the power of expression and the importance of coming together.

The inspiration for LUMINA was born out of ME GOODY’s continued mission to support
those with a passion for the arts
, creating an intentional platform for emerging creators and
seasoned industry professionals to not only showcase their work, but  connect, learn, and grow side by side. As shared by the team, “There can only be existence when we co-exist” — a sentiment that echoes through every aspect of the festival.

One of the highlights of the discussion was the unveiling of the LUMINA laurel, a visual
emblem rich with meaning. Rooted in the concept of light, the laurel is a symbol of how we
aspire to shed light on others, be a guiding light, and receive light in return. It represents a
cycle of shared illumination — a space where resources, stories, and energy flow freely among a community of creators.

This motif of light is deeply connected to ME GOODY’s cosmic philosophy — the belief that
positive energy vibrates with other positive energy, and that the universe expands through
these acts of creative generosity.

The LUMINA identity also proudly carries a sense of “Thainess”, a nod to the festival’s roots in Thailand. With its first light shining on Thai crafts, voices, and talent, the festival aims to
bridge local and global worlds — to celebrate what’s uniquely Thai while fostering international artistic exchange. It’s this blend of the universal and the deeply personal that defines the essence of LUMINA.

Thailand’s Soft Power and the Role of Film
Another key moment during the press gathering was the reflection on Thailand’s evolving role on the global stage — particularly through the lens of film as a tool of soft power. Quoting Thailand’s Prime Minister at the World Film Festival in Bangkok (2024):

"Film is one of the important soft powers. The government wants to push this matter further. Thai movies are not inferior to those made anywhere else in the world. Thai movies that have had the opportunity to be shown abroad all make foreigners fascinated with Thainess. Film festivals are very important tools. They bring people in the film industry together to exchange opinions with each other."

This vision resonates deeply with the mission of LUMINA. As a community-based film festival hosted by a Thai-founded creative company, LUMINA positions itself at the forefront of this national movement — offering a grassroots platform that amplifies Thai creativity while fostering dialogue between local and international voices.

From a business and marketing perspective, the festival represents a new wave of Thai
representation. It's a clear declaration that Thailand is not only ready to contribute to global
cinematic conversations but to lead them
— with authenticity, cultural richness, and creative excellence.

For ME GOODY, this project is more than just an event. It’s part of a broader mission to use
creativity as a vehicle for positive change
, and to build a future where art becomes a shared
language for understanding, empowerment, and community-building
— starting right here
in Bangkok.

What to Expect at LUMINA 2025: A Festival for Everyone
The inaugural LUMINA Community Film Festival is officially set to take place from May 15–
17, 2025
, hosted at the vibrant ME GOODY Space in Bangkok. From 13:00 to 21:00 each day,
this three-day celebration invites emerging artists, seasoned industry professionals, and curious cinephiles alike to experience film in an atmosphere that is welcoming, inclusive, and deeply community-driven.

Crafted with care by a team of creatives who believe in the transformative power of storytelling, LUMINA is designed to be a festival for everyone — whether you're an aspiring filmmaker, a film lover, or someone simply looking for inspiration and connection.

This year’s festival will feature exciting highlights such as:

🎬 Showcases by Students from VERSO International School
As part of LUMINA’s commitment to youth and education, we’re proud to spotlight young
filmmakers from VERSO International School, whose creativity and vision are already breaking boundaries.

🌏 Tech Tales Youth Program
Another special partner initiative, Tech Tales Youth, will present a series of powerful short
documentaries created by the next generation of storytellers — using technology to amplify their voices and tell timely, impactful stories.

🤝 Maker’s Lounge
For those craving deeper conversation and connection, the Maker’s Lounge is a special festival segment curated by our community leaders. It’s a cozy space for in-depth networking, live discussions, and idea-sharing, bringing together creators, thinkers, and change-makers in the spirit of collaboration.

🏆 The LUMINA Awards Ceremony
And of course, the festival will culminate in our very first LUMINA Awards Ceremony, where
selected films will be recognized by our esteemed panel of judges — celebrating creativity,
courage, and the unique spark that each story brings to the world.

A Global Wave of Stories: Submission Highlights
This year, the response to LUMINA’s open call for films exceeded all our expectations — and we are incredibly grateful to every filmmaker who trusted us with their stories.

We received submissions from 17 countries across the globe, reflecting a truly diverse and
international creative community. The average age of our global submitters was 31,
showcasing a rich blend of emerging voices and seasoned creatives. Notably, the average age of Thai submitters was 24, highlighting the bold, fresh energy of the new generation of Thai storytellers ready to take center stage.

Of all the submissions, 51% came from Southeast Asia, reinforcing the region's growing
significance in the world of independent cinema and affirming LUMINA's role as a key platform for regional and global exchange.

These numbers speak not only to the enthusiasm and talent out there — but also to the growing need for spaces like LUMINA that champion community, connection, and creative courage. We can’t wait to share these stories with you.
